cell lock does not work ?!

Hello,

I have a worksheet wich I protect fully. Some cells are defined as
unlocked, wich aree available to enter date. Now I have some cells (not
all) wich, however they are protected/locked, still behave as a unlocked
cell. So, I can accidently still overwrite cells with formulas. I've
been looking throughout the forum but cannot find a solution .... does
anyone have an idea what this could be ? Or give me a hint where to
look ?

Regards,
Hunter

Ron will get back to you! <vbg>

tools|Protection|allow users to edit ranges
(after you turn worksheet protection off)

After setting the cell property to locked, are you sure the worksheet is then
protected?

Ron, can you please explain more what you can do with that function .. I
do not understand where your aiming at.

Jennifer, I protect the worksheet after the cell is locked. But that is
how I do it all the time and it seems to work fine. Now I experience
problems with particular cells. I have a rather big worksheet.

I'm not Ron, but you can allow users to edit ranges on a protected worksheet.
And in this case (Map2.xls???), that option was set without using a password.

Hi Dave,
I have the same problem with the cells: locked but possible to edit.
Checked everything (also passwords as you said). It's still possible to
edit the cells

I think it has to do with something that overrules the security of
these cells. But what... I hope you have an idea.

Unprotect the worksheet.
Then check under Tools|Protection|allow users to edit ranges

If you find anything in that list that isn't password protected, either remove
it or give it a nice password (depending on what you want.)

It works. The cells were "hidden" in an enormous list of ranges....

Thank you for the tip!!
