How can you protect a range of cells (for example, Column A) with a password,
but meanwhile allowing users to access all other cells on the sheet?

Select all cells
Goto Cells>Format>Protection and uncheck the Locked Box, then OK
Select JUST the cells to protect
Goto Cells>Format>Protection and CHECK the Locked Box, then OK
Goto Tools>Protection and set a worksheet password.

Hi,

Unlock the cells you want users to be able to change. Then protect the sheet.

To unlock cells:

1. Select the range
2. Format->Cells
3. In Protection tab, remove the check on the Lock checkbox
