Centering text top to bottom in graphic object

How do I center text top to bottom within a graphic
object?

I'm able to center left to right using the parag/center
feature, and can shrink the object so that object fits
the text.

But I want to keep the object at a specific size and make
the text centered within it top to bottom like you do in
most graphic programs.

Thanks,

Word doesn't provide vertical alignment options in text boxes (Publisher
does). You can either add Space Before or insert a table cell in the text
box and use the vertical alignment controls for tables.
