Cfg of Project Server with SharePoint Team Services

Gary

Hello,

I don't know if this is the correct forum for this question but I have
had excellent help here before so I thought that I'd give it a shot.

I am trying to marry SharePoint Team Services (SPTS) with MS Project
Server (MSPS). I have managed to set up MSPS successfully and get it
linked to MS SQL Server. I have also successfully installed SPTS.

The remaining step seems to be to marry the two together. It appears
this is done under the Admin tab of MS Project Web Access by use of
the 'Manage SharePoint Team Services'. On selecting this I 'Connect to
servers' and 'Add Server'. This brings up a screen that allows me to
add a web server running SPTS. There is a bunch of cfg info to enter.
The info I enter is identical to that which the 'SharePoint
Configuration Wizard' lists at the end of its configuration run.

The problem is that when I 'Save Changes' I get an error message
stating that 'MSPS could not connect to the specified web server
running SPTS'.

I try to verify that I have the correct server name by using that
server name as a URL in a browser window and am able to connect to the
web server using both the SharePoint web server port and the admin
port, so I know the server is there and running and that the names are
valid.

I check that the database server name and database name are correct,
and indeed they match the names given under my SQL Server Enterprise
Manager application.

The only other thing that I could think to check is that the MS
Project Web Access cfg when connecting to the server is not using the
right username and password. To check this I run 'PSCOMPlus.exe' and
enter in the necessary usernames and passwords so that the SPTS Admin
entity and DB access entity are correct. They appear to be but still
no success.

Of course these installations are complex and I'm not expecting anyone
to write, "Oh, just click the <whatever> box and it'll work". However
I would appreciate the help if someone could suggest other factors
that I could investigate.

Thanks and have a good weekend.

I had the same problem - but mine turned out to be caused
by trying to run an MS Project 2003 Share Point Site and
a Windows Share Point site on the same sharepoint server.
This caused some corruption in the project templates for
sharepoint and caused communication problems (they
couldn't talk to one another) between MS Project 2003 and
Windows Share Point Services 2.0.

Hope this helps...
