CGi-bin ?

Hi
Is the Cgi bin used by any particular platform/ language. if I add a cgi-bin
to my root folder will permissions be sorted by the server or do I have to
set them

It's used by CGI / Perl scripts and the web host would set the correct
permissions on the server.

I believe there are Windows versions of Perl available but there's so much
that you can do with ASP, PHP or ASP.NET that I wouldn't want to do it
unless it was something very specialized. I don't think many web hosts run
Perl on Windows either.

I have always used asp on windows. so is perl used mainly on unix servers

Not really, they will mostly run PHP. CGI is very little used these
days.

Absolutely, CGI isn't quite dead yet.:) It was just the "mostly" part
I objected to.

hold on.
should I be using ci for my passcode protected database or something else?
