Change Admin Password?

Hi All,

We have to change the admin password on our installation of Project
Server2003 to appease our backup software (AvePoint).

My question is based around continuity, how do ensure all services keep
running and that nothing is going to break by doing this?
Are there any must do's?
Are there any must not do's?

I know enough to leave well alone, if it aint broke dont fix it is foremost
in my books but this change is being forced upon me! It is running in
conjunction with Sharepoint Portal Server if that makes any difference and I
sure would appreciate your thoughts/instructions.

Many thanks

Kev

Hi Kev,

I can think of a few admin users for a PS2003 installation...
1. The ProjectServer Administrator user - this is the PS2003 administrator
- the password is changed in PWA. You can change this and nothing will be
effected.
2. The local machine adminstrator
3. The domain administrator

Changing either of these last two may or may not effect the PS2003
installation, it depends whether you used them as part of the install (not
recommended). The key issue is whether these accounts used to run the COM+
services for PS - check the installation documentation. If so, then you can
reset them using the PSCOMPLUS.EXE utility which will be installed on your
server.
