Change default fields of entry in Tasks view in PWA

Hi,

We currently have Project 2002(will be upgrading to 2003 very soon) and we
have our resources entering "Actual Hours" in the Task view of PWA, we want
to change this so our resources can enter "% Work Complete" instead. When I
try to change this by opening project and going to Tools> Customize>
Published Fields, I cannot change this default(almost like I don't have
permission) How can I change this?

It sounds like your Project Server administrator has locked the default
method of tracking progress, which would prevent project managers from
changing the method on a project by project basis. You'll need to ask
him/her to unlock the default method of tracking progress before you can
change the setting in your projects. After you have changed your method for
each project, you will also need to click Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments and click OK for each project. Doing so will "push" the new
method of tracking progress to each user's timesheet. Do know, however,
that any task assignment in which progress has already been entered will be
unaffected by this change in tracking. Hope this helps.

Thanks this does help, but I am now the administrator and do not know how to
unlock this feature-is this done at the DB level?

If you are the Project Server administrator, complete the following steps to
change the default method of tracking progress:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click the Admin menu
3. Click the Customize Microsoft Project Web Access link
4. Change the method of tracking to % Work Complete
5. Click the Save Changes button
