Change Default Program To Open Excel

When opening excel (2004) the default program is listed as Internet Explorer (in parallels). It seems allows me to select excel as the default program when using a right click and the proceeds to open the document. However, the next time I open the document it proceeds to launch parallels again - right clicking shows that Internet Explorer is still the default. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Select (single click) an XL file. Type CMD-i (Get Info). Under the Open
With section, choose XL, then click Change All.
