change from rich text to word document to send by email

I need to know how to change from rich text to work document in order that I
can send email for quick response and back up by sending hard copy by post.
It seems customers are unable to open my attachments.

Assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

1. Assuming Outlook, Tools->OPtions->Mail Format tab - change your Rich Text to plain test or html.

2. Print the attachment, fold, insert in pre-addressed envelope and affix appropriate postage, deposit in mailbox for pickup.

If they can't open RTF document, then they likely won't be able to open
a works document. Just save as Plain text and send that.

Not neccesarily. If the recipients are not using Outlook, they won't be able
to read rtf emails. Doesn't mean they can't open the "works" (did the OP
really mean WORD?) file

It's really hard to tell about what the OP is having problems with, and
a bit loose with the terms but it seems that the attached document is
what was being asked about.
