Change in template

I open a new contact and edit the standard template to put a custom field in
I need.
I just can not figure out how to save it so it shows that field everytime I
try to enter a new contact. Can someone explain to me what I am doing wrong?

You need to publish the form and make it the default at least for the contacts folder. See http://www.outlookcode.com/d/newdefaultform.htm
