First time using MS Query in Excel, I've accidentally hit some option
that opens the dialog box in the French language. Don't know how I did
it and can't find how to change it back.

Help, anyone?

EXCEL HELP SAYS
· "When the Enable indicator on taskbar check box is selected and you
have two or more languages installed, an indicator that represents the
default language appears on the Windows taskbar. To switch between
languages quickly, click the indicator, and then click the language you
want to use.
· You can also use shortcut keys to switch between languages while you
type. Select one of the Switch languages
options on the Language tab to set the shortcut keys."

Do you have multiple languages enabled?

Re MS Query... I've not had good luck using MS Query with Excel since
Microsoft has updated its ODBC drivers, but perhaps you have the newest
software that is entirely self consistent.

Windsurfer:

Thanks for the information. Not sure how to use it :) I don't have
dual languages installed unless by undiscovered accident (!) Also am
not familiar with any task bar enabling indicator. I have trouble
finding any appropriate reference in the help files.. You can tell I'm
not a power user. I'm using Office 2000.

Can you give me some pointers - keywords or help headings - to the
part of the help files where you found the quoted paragraph?

My impression is that my problem started with an accidental right-left
more-or-less-simultaneous mouse click while selecting either "New
database query" or more likely at the next step clicking "Excel files"
in the "Choose data source" box; when the next dialog box appeared in
French (but my spreadsheet and its menus remain in English.)
