"Change Status Managers"

Am I correct in assuming that the "Change Status manager" process (new in
MSPS 2007) can be used when a PM is going away on vacation or is out sick and
wants someone else to approve the hours for all or some tasks within a
project?

Absolutely correct. Do know this as well, when someone creates an
enterprise project template and saves it in the Project Server system, and
then a PM creates a new project from that template, the system designates
the ORIGINAL CREATOR of the template as the Status Manager of each regular
task. This is a bug in Project Server 2007 that SP1 does not fix, so the PM
must actually designate himself/herself as the Status Manager to get updates
sent to him/her by team members. If he/she fails to do this, the template
creator gets all the updates. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale - Helps a great deal! Working with a new team rolling out a
new Medicare claims processing system for the State of Ohio. We are using
EDS's MSPS '07 (a.k.a. P12) and using SAP on the front end of that for time
entry. Should be interesting! I am sure I will be back here soon!

Thanks for the assist!
