Change Task Start Date Thru PWA Task Status Page?

Have Team Members always been able to change the start and finish dates
through the PWA Task Status page when using the “Hours of work done per dayâ€
updating process? Why would this be made available when team members should
only be entering progress and remaining work and not be able to actually
change a task’s start date? I recently had a resource ask why she couldn’t
make a task end on a selected date and only require 40hrs of work. When I
began investigating, I found out that team members could actually change the
start or finish dates of a task and submit the change for approval along with
task progress. Has this always been available or is this new?

In Project Server 2007, the system allows team members to adjust the Start
and Finish dates of each of their assignments. This is new behavior and was
certainly not the case in Project Server 2003. If you want to prevent team
members from adjusting the Start and Finish dates for task assignments on
the My Tasks page, refer to the following WSS customization:

Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thanks yet again. I was sure I had not seen this before in 2003 and since I
am just now digging deeper into 2007 I was a little shocked to see this
functionality was available to team members.

Thanks for the link as well, I will fix this ASAP!

Hi Dale,

Do you have a suggested a reference that I can use to learn how to code such
as the example in this post?

Also, can one use VBscript instead of Javascript within the Content Editor
Web Part? Any advantages/ disadvantages?

The solution referenced in our Project Server Help Blog is entirely
SharePoint. To learn how to do cool "hacks" like this, you need to become
more proficient in SharePoint. I know that Microsoft has courses and books
on SharePoint, so that's one way to start learning.

Because I'm not a technical person, I can't answer your second question
about VBscript vs. Javascript in the Content Editor Web Part. You might
want to post that question in the microsoft.public.project.developer
newsgroup and let the developers address that issue. Hope this helps.
