Change the Shape of Text Placeholders?

I'm thinking I won't be able to do this but thought I would throw it out
there just in case....

I'm developing a Theme for an internal initiative that has a simple logo
that appears in a rectangle w/ rounded corners.

I would like to have my title placeholders in the Theme have rounded corners
(I'd fill them and use white text like the logo does) as well.

Is there any way to do this or is it just a pipe dream?

You can do this by changing the shape of the text box - I use powerpoint 2007
and to change it I go to the 'Format' section and select Shape>> Change shape

Most versions have similar in them. If in doubt - add an Autoshape that has
rounded corners (there is one available), right click it and select Add text
- hey presto a text box with rounded corners!

I was able to change the shape of Smart Art that I added to some of the slide
layouts (and since discovered that it ceased to be a placeholder once I
picked specific Smart Art..grr) but I don't have the Shape>>Change option on
the Master slide for the title box or even any of the subsequent layouts to
change them individually.

If I select an Autoshape then Add Text ... it won't be a placeholder then,
would it?

I thought 2007 was supposed to make my life easier??

Christine, first make sure you are in Slide Master view (View tab, Slide
Master).

Then select the shape that represents the Title placeholder within any of
the Slide Layouts (or the larger thumbnail -- the Slide Master).

Once you select the shape, you'll see the Drawing Tools Format tab in the
Ribbon. Access this tab.

Select the Edit Shape button -- this brings up a small menu in which you can
choose the Change Shape sub-menu -- from this sub-menu, select the Rounded
Rectangle shape or any other shape.

Trace your steps backwards out of the Slide Master to the actual slides, and
you are done!
