change the size of cells?

I'm trying to design appointment book pages.
I have my columns and times set but I'd like to know how to make it fit a
standard page, I need to make the cells narrower and I can't find anything
about that, since they can be made wider to fit text I'm sure I can set them
narrower...yes?
I can size the column widths until they fit (four per page)...but is there
an easier way?
I hope there is some kind of "merge" I can use for months and dates so I
don't have to alter each page by hand.....but then I might have to to get the
two side printing....

Row heights and column widths are the properties of the entire rows and columns.

You can narrow a column down to 0 if you like, but you cannot narrow just one
cell.
