changed email from outlook 2002 to google but can't email in word

My email from microsoft word or internet explorer pages to be emailed get
'outboxed' in outlook 2002 at my old default? Now I use google and gmail.
Can I keep my gmail account yet use outlook and email word documents? How?
Please help.
