Changing Autonumber

I have a small database that users use to get a job number via autonumber.
For 2004 all of those numbers started with a 4. Is there a way to change it
for 2005 without losing access to the 2004 files for reports, etc.???

How many digits in the number?

If 5 digits, e.g. 40001, you could use the code in this link to create a
record with the value 50000, and delete it, The next assigned number would
be 50001. See:
