I've applied the Fishbowl slide design and want to change the color scheme. I'm able to change the color of the type but can't get another color in the background, unless it's just removing all the design of the Fishbowl and giving me a solid color. Is that all I can do?

Yes - the coloring of the graphic is an integral part of the background of
the Design Template. If you replace the Background you're replacing the
graphic itself. If you have a graphics program you can create your own
picture & use it as a replacement Background.
