Changing Base Calendars for Resources

We changed the default project(Standard) calendar to a
different calendar called "flint".

For each resource we changed the standard calendar to the
new customized calendar "flint".

The project was republished after making the changes.
After accepting an update from a resource, all resource
calendars were changed back to the Standard calender and
all the changes that were on the flint calendar were
lost.

We had to go back and change all the resources back to
the "flint" calendar again.

Why did the resource calendars change?

If you change resources within a project, do the changes
get updated on the server? Or do we have to make all
resource calendar changes only in the resource global
template?

If the resource calendar is changed in one project,
shouldn't the other projects see these changes in their
resource calendars too? It appears not to working
correctly or as expected.

I believe the changes for the caledars and the calendar assignments have to
be done by first checking out "Enterprise Global" (changes to the calendar)
and "Enterprise Resource Pool" (changes to calendar for a resource).
Remember when you change enterprise global to save it and exit Project Pro
before proceeding. Not necessary with the resources.

Ok, I opened the Enterprise Resource pool and updated each
resources Standard calendar to exclude addtional days
during the holidays. Now when I re-open my project the
resources in my project still have "old" resources
calendars" and not the updated version.

How do Project managers know if resources have had
additional days marked off and they are not avaiable now?

The resource calendars don't appear to be sync with the
Enterprise resource pool standard calendar.

Also if I changed my project calendar to a new default
calendar, you would think that the resources would also
now be changed to the default local calendar to include
the sames days marked off.

Hmm, had exactly the same situation a few days ago. I'd forgotten to mark
Jan 1 as a non-workday. Changed as you said and it worked fine. You did
save the resource pool after making the changes, right? And you're sure the
resources in your projects aren't local? I'm running dry.

I don't know if notifications are sent as calendars change although I would
think so if changes any of their assignements. They may not know the cause,
however.
