Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC column marker can not be changed. the ruler marker is only solid blue and does not have the square of dots on it. This is not in a table only in page layout. Any ideas.

Haven't a clue what you're talking about: I can't help you unless you
describe your situation in full detail.

Just guessing - As John indicated, your description isn't very clear...

The column separator markers for Columns works differently than those for
Table columns because the same marker adjusts both the right margin of one
column & the left margin of the next... IOW, it adjusts the Space Between
Columns, so to use it you have to position your pointer on its left or right
edge, not in its midsection. Better yet, double-click it then set the column
widths & Space Between even more accurately in the Columns dialog.
