Changing company name

F

Frank

A friend setup all my accounting using Access. The only problem is that he
used the wrong name. I have tried to change the name but when I do certain
functions like try to make an invoice it still shows the old name. Can
someone help me? I am a novice so please send detailed instructions. Access

Hi Frank,

It would probably be easiest to simply ask your friend how to make this
change, since this person is undoubtedly familiar with your database.

Do you have access to the standard database window? This shows tabbed pages
with tabs for tables, queries, forms, reports, etc. In case you only see a
switchboard form, try re-opening the database with the shift key held down
(or try pressing the F11 key to see if you can display the database window).
Click on the tables tab. Look for a table that holds company information,
such as the name of your company.

Note also that switchboards built using the switchboard manager will often
times include two labels, where each label has a company name. These labels
are slightly offset from each other. If you have this type of switchboard,
you may need to change the caption of each label as well.

If my answer has helped you, please answer yes to the question that reads
"Did this post answer the question?" at

the bottom of the message thread.

How hard or how easy to fix depends on how your frient set it up originally.
For example, if your friend set up the Comapany Name just a a Field value in
the "Custom Data" Table, then it is as simple as changing this Field value.

OTOH, your friend might have "hard-coded" everything in Forms & Reports then
you will have to modify each of these objects.

It is much better to get your friend to modify it for you since he set it
up, he already knows ...
