changing files

My frontpage files are turning into a windows file (icon)
causing them not to open or work. I can open them if I
right click and open with front page but they just change
back to a for example firstpage.ht_. Why is it doing
this.

You're going to have to provide more description of your problem in order to
get an answer. For example, what do you mean by "turining into a windows
file (icon)"? What is the context in which you are trying to open them? Are
you working with a web site? If so, is it on your local machine, or a remote
host? Are you opening the web site?
