Changing formulas via F2 edit

When I try to change and existing function or fomula by
using F2 edit, when I hit Enter instead of displaying the
results it displays the formula or function. Prior to
the edit the results were displayed.

Have you inadvertently inserted a space before the = sign ?

No, I checked for that. I just select the cell, position
in the formula or function where I want to make the
change, make the change and then hit enter. I have even
had the same thing happen when I edit through the
function argument window.
