Changing Home Page

R

Richard

Hi,
I am using FP 2003 and I am trying to add to a web that I
have under construction. What I am trying to do is to put
a new page in as the Home page and demote the work that I
have done to a child page to my new home page.
I have tried help but do not seem to be able to find how
to do it although I am sure that I have done it before.
Thanks in advance.

Save the current home page under a new name, then open the new page and save as the current home
page.

I really hate it when I feel this stupid. I have saved
the current home page under a different name, I have
saved the page that I want to be the home page as
index.htm, I have removed all pages from the navigation
structure except the old home page (which now has a new
name) and the new page called index. Unfortunately the
old home page still shows the little house in the
navigation structure view and I therefore cannot make it
a child page to my new home page (which obviously is not
a home page because it does not show the home symbol).
Thanks for helping this idiot.

Richard -

You didn't have to go through all of that had you followed Thomas's
suggestions first. Given where you are now, though, just delete the
entire navigation structure, including the home page (be sure to say
that you just want to remove the page from navigation only, NOT from the
web), and start over, designating your new home page as such.

Are we using the same program? When I try to delete the
home page, the option to remove the page from the
navigation structure is greyed out. The radio button is
in the delete from the web option and it cannot be
altered.

Richard, it really sound like you renamed the current home page, instead of actually saving under a
new name.

Thanks for your efforts guys but I decided that it was
easier to create a complete new web.
