Hello everyone!

I know the question is a reccurent one :

How to change the UI language since many people buy MS Office in the wrong language or (as me) just prefer it in English?!?

* Has someone experienced good result in downloading an update in an other language and installed it with succes? Is it possible?

* Has someone tried to install a trial version which he/she upgraded to a full version by entering the SN he/she purchased online/in a retail version of MS Office? Is it only possible?

Thank you for your replies,
Csabika

Update :

I just tried to install the latest update (the 12.2.1) which was not installed on my Macbook Pro yet in English (where my original MS Office is in German).

It didn't went through! When the location is searched during installation, an error appears.

I'm downloading the trial version yet.
I keep you updated..

Hi Csabika.

* You cannot change the language of the UI. If you want to have an English
user interface, you will need to buy an English copy of Office.

* Installing an update in a language other than the one used by Office won't
work. In other words, you won't be able to apply an English update to any
non-English version of Office.

* You cannot use a product key which you purchased for the trial version in
a retail version, and vice-versa. The online and the boxed versions use
different product keys.

* It should be possible to use a product key from a non-English boxed
version and enter it when installing an English boxed version. You might for
instance borrow a friend's installer disc and enter your own product key to
obtain an English version of Office. I am not entirely sure how legal this
method is, so proceed with caution.

Office for Mac is language-specific -- you cannot change the language of the
Menus & dialogs to anything other than the language version purchased. Also,
each language version can only be updated by the updater for that language.

AFAIK, the Try & Buy trial version cannot be *activated* for anything other
than the 30-day free trial by way of just a key code. The wording of the KB
is ludicrous - it refers to "converting" the trial version then goes on to
describe how to purchase the retail version, remove the trial, then install
the retail using the product key that comes with it:

IOW, If you want a "live" edition you have to buy a retail package or
purchase one of the downloadable editions of Office via the Mactopia web
site & use the perpetual license key that accompanies it.
