Changing links - source file.

Hello all

Under edit / links, the source file is truncated so that I
canna read the full name of the file. Most cases this
doesn'r represent a problem but once in a while there's no
way to distinguish the file from others with the same
start.

Anyway to expand the source file size?

Thanks, but I know how to change links. In fact that is
why I went to edit / lnks. When I get there I canna tell
the difference between the four files since they all start
out with:

....\ABC COST BREAKDOWN WORKSHEET F...
....\ABC COST BREAKDOWN WORKSHEET F...
....\ABC COST BREAKDOWN WORKSHEET F...
....\ABC COST BREAKDOWN WORKSHEET F...

how can I get the view to change so that the rest of the
file name appears? f... = FY0504, or FY0505, or FY0506,
etc..

I thought that they were in order 0504, 0505, 0506 - but
they are not.

tia...

In xl2002, I get a scroll bar (along the bottom of that dialog) so I can go to
the right.

And those columns are resizable. Just click on the separator line and drag to
the left/right--just like in Windows Explorer or even columnwidths in excel.

And a neat trick that works in windows explore and this Edit|links dialog is
to hit ctrl-+ (ctrl, numeric keypad plus)

All the columns will be resized to fit.

And double clicking on that separator line will resize the column, too. (Just
like autofitting the columnwidth in the excel worksheet.)

Hi,

You can display the full name of your links using a formula in my
LITlib worksheet functions library:

=WorkbookLink(Index As Long, Optional WorkbookIndex As Variant) As
String

Example:

=WorkbookLink(1) will display the full name of the first link of the
current workbook.

Dave (and others), thanks for the help but I may not be
explaining it correctly. First, I know how to re-size the
columns, I also know about the status bar view, etc..

please take a file and link it (using any formula) to a
file named: "the lakers are gonna lose big time cause
they are losers.xls"

now take the same file and link it to another (new)
file: "the lakers are gonna lose big time cause they are
only out for themselves so they can not play as a team"

then open the edit / links option and you should notice
that one source file can be read completely while the
other can not. Is there any way to expand the "box"?

I know that now I may have really confused the question,
but I've tried to explain in my original query, then
expanded it in the second attempt, and now have gne into a
more (and way too much) detail explanation.

Appreciate any help...

I couldn't duplicate this.

I could use the scroll bar to move right/left and I could resize the columns
inside that dialog.

I don't know anyway that can expand this dialog.
