Changing Navigation Bar "Text" Format

W

wwcp

I apologize upfront for previously posting this question to the
"programming" frontpage group before I realized my error - this group seems
much more compatible with my level of using FrontPage... thanks.

How do I change the "format" of my Navigation "Text" Bars that are
automatically created by FP? I know I can point at any of them and the
whole group gets highlighted - then a right click will produce the window
allowing me to Cut, Copy, Paste, etc. but the Navigation Bar Properties at
the bottom will only allow me to select "Bars" or "Text" - not the format of
"Text." The previous window will also allow me to change the "Font" of my
Text - but, not the format..

(I'm trying to get rid of the "parens" and multiple text bars per line that
automatically came up...)

Thanks so much for your assistance,

Palmer

Which version of FrontPage?

In FP2003, right click on the Nav Bar
Choose Link Bar Properties
On the Style Tab, scroll down to the bottom and pick a text style.
Requires FP2002 extensions on the server.

Following the Format/Theme suggestion - I couldn't find a Customize
selection.. And, that seems a little extreme to simply changing Text
navigation links.. I'm still lost.... Thanks in advance for any additional
help....

Format | Theme | Modify | Graphics | Vertical Nav (if that's the one you
want to change) | Font |

I' so sorry for being a pain, but I got this far - and, it offered to let me
change Font, Vert/Horiz Alignments, etc. but, nothing about "parenths" or
multiple items per line..

Do you think I should upgrade to a more recent version???

Thanks,

Palmer

Multi-lines are not supported by the FP navigation components.

Thanks so much. I never knew about Included Pages before... neat concept..
The auto Navs were giving me fits, anyway... (just as you suggested 8^) -
and, I have long thought that I should take some time to work up my own...
This will simply force me into it....

Many thanks for your response and support... This is a very helpful
newsgroup...

I meant multiple page entries per each line... (Take a quick look at my
FrontPage (lol) http://www.ofgc.net)

But, I am going to take the suggestion to work up a special page with the
Navs I want to be Included in my Shared left borders.. That way I can
categorize them, too:

Club Information (not a hot link)
Membership (page)
Charter/Purpose (page)
Meetings (page)

etc,

Great forum... thanks so much...

Great I worked up a page of "navs" and Included it in the Shared Border on
my FrontPage, but it comes up in a single column table (looks like) that is
narrower than my included page... And, I don't seem to have any control
over it's width... Any ideas on how I can widen that column???

Thanks,

Palmer

Thanks, you are being very helpful.. But, Oh Dear - how do I get rid of
Shared Borders?? (No since of having them if I'm going to be creating my
own...) I can see how to change them - and, how to put stuff in them...
but, no way to removed them... (??)

I fully understand the "two column" full page table approach... thanks...
great idea... (Due to information I've previously gained from this great
forum - I use Tables all over the place....

But, shouldn't I get rid of Shared Borders???

Thanks again...

*When* you're ready; Open your Web, Open a Page...Format | Shared Borders
then get rid of them.

It's the "getting rid of" that's my problem... I click on Format then
Shared Borders, but then it doesn't seem to give me an option to delete
them... Just All Pages, Current Page, Top, Left, or Rest to System Default
(which isn't active..) (??)

Continued thanks,

Palmer

Set All pages, then uncheck all boxes for Top, Left, etc.

Duh!!! (lol)

Thanks so much for putting up with my obvious insensitivity to FrontPage
"logic".... Sorry....

Hey, I think I'm on my way..... Now, I wonder what that little red X means
up in the upper right hand corner...... hum??? (lol)

However, I'm still stuck with the same "width" problem I had before... I've
created a 2 column full page table and Included that Page of nothing but
Navs. (and, my club logo at the top..) But, what shows up in the left hand
column is not as wide as my "page of navs" (??) And, there is plenty of
room in the left hand column.... Any ideas, here???

Thanks again,

Palmer

I don't dare Publish it yet - because it's "live." However, by playing with
the Nav Page I discovered - when Included - it becomes the width of my logo
at the top of my Nav Page...... hummm? But, I can work with that... I'd
show you what I've done so far, but anybody logging onto my club website
will have no navs on the main page... arg...

I'll work with this.... thanks so much, Thomas....

I JUST LOVE MY NEW NAV PAGE.... It forced me into organizing the whole
structure..... Thanks so much for all your help. But now - I need to set
up those 2 column full page tables in EVERY page - which means I have to
"move" everything into the right half of those tables - which brings me to a
completely new question that I have had for a long time.. but, I think I
should start a new thread just in case somebody else has the same issue..
(I've never been able to move (copy/paste) entire tables into the right hand
portion of another table....)

Thanks again... maybe you would do me a favor and help me with my new
thread....
