Changing Normal Template

Something has screwed up my Normal template. When I check <alt-F-U> all the
numbers are right, but on the actual display there is no 1" margin at top
and bottom.

Somebody sent me a procedure for changing the Normal document that's better
than anything I have. Could someone do the same again?

Thanks...

I found the article by Suzanne Barnhill, which is, I think, the one I was
seeking. But following her procedure does not change the fact that my top
and bottom margins are zero, not 1", as stated in the <alt-F-U> table.

How do I fix them? The <alt-F-U> table has the right numbers, but the
document which displays does not.

Thanks...

....in fact, changing the margin numbers to 2" has no effect; they remain at
zero.

Sorry guys! I should have said this before: It's Word 2003 running on a
Toshiba Satellite A105-S4344 under Windows XP.

New point in the problem:

I seem to be able to fix it by doing "alt-v-h" even if I don't create any
headers or footers.

Is there anywhere to find a clean copy of normal.dot that I could substitute
for my corrupted one?

Thanks...

Phil
