Changing Page Size / Margins in Already Created Templates

Stephen

I have created an A5 sized document template through Format > Document
Fine for any document created thereafter but I get not change when
attach the template to any other document using a different page siz
(and I am telling Word to update the styles).

This also happens for an A4 sized document template where I hav
changed the margins: any document based on this template has the ne
margins but as above attaching it to an earlier created document see
no change.

In fact I have tried applying my A5 template to my A4 sized docs an
the other way around but to no effect whatsoever!

Has anyone one experienced this problem (and solved it) or can anyon
see what is going wrong?

Setup is Word X, Mac OS X 10 (Jaguar)

Thanks
Stephen

Attaching a template, even if you have checked "Automatically update
document styles," does *only* the following:

1. Makes AutoText, macros, and toolbars from the template available to the
document.

2. Makes styles from the template available to the document and, if you have
checked "Automatically update," updates same-named styles. (Naturally, it
will have no effect on styles unique to the document.)

In order to acquire the document-level formatting (page size and
orientation, header/footer, margins, columns, boilerplate text, etc.), you
must create a new document based on the template and paste or insert your
old document into it.

Thanks for that! As ever, the forum confirms what you either half knew
or half suspected to be true! And you know with Word it will never in
your favour...
