Changing paragraph changes Style

M

Michael

I am using Parapgaph Numbering with styles to control
indenting. However, when I change a particular paragraph
from left justified to center justified, the entire
document changes along with it. How can change the
paragraph formatting of a particular paragraph without
affecting the Style of the rest of the document? This is
also happening for a font change as well.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

I have some suggestions/hypotesis:

1. What is the name of the style applied in the paragraph
your are refering to? (Let's say, for exemple, StyleA) If
every styles in your documents are based on StyleA, any
modification you do on StyleA will affect the whole
document.

For exemple, if you change the font for Normal style,
every paragraphs based on Normal will be modified to the
new font.

2. Also, in order to control which modifications are added
to your style description, check if the "Automatically
update" option is turned ON(Format, Styles, Modify: [your
style]) Maybe it should help...

3. AutoFormat features are too "intuitive". They do
whatever they want with your document and apply unexpected
styles. I suggest that you disable some of these options:

Tools, AutoCorrect, AutoFormat as you type: disable "Apply
as you type" options. Then, in AutoFormat tab, disable the
4 options under the "Apply" category.

Good luck!

(My first language is French, I hope you understand!)
