One way is that you can add animation onto the textbox so that it will appear
only when you left click.
For PowerPoint 2002/XP and above:
To do so, click Slide Show > Custom Animation.
Select the textbox.
Click Add Effect > Entrance > Appear, or any other entrance effects.
*The step for PowerPoint 2000 and below is also similar, except that the
effects are all under the "Entry animation and sound" section.
You can also use triggers animation so that lets say, when you click on an
AutoShape, the textbox will appear.
To do so, create an autoshape on the slide first.
Then, click on the textbox and add an entrance effect.
Double click on the entrance effect to bring up the Effect Options dialog box.
Click on Timing tab.
Click Triggers and select "Start effect on click of: ".
Click on the dropdown field and select the autoshape.
Click Ok.
