Changing speed of animation effect

I am using Powerpoint 2000.
I have applied an animation effect to some text.
The letters of the text appear one by one from the bottom. However they
appear too fast.
Is it possible to slow down the speed by which the letters appear?

Not possible in PPT 2000 I'm afraid. See the Dutch newsgroup where I
answered your question. Don't know about any workaround either, but who
knows maybe someone else will help you out.

Only workaround I know is to upgrade.
