changing task duration without effecting work

Does anyone know how to turn on the smart tag action buttons, when you change
a task? We used to get those. No one in organization gets those anymore.
We're assuming it's some software that's been installed, but haven't found it
yet. When we make task changes, you can to see the indicator in the corner of
the cell for just a brief second, then it disappears.

Hello Kerry,
These smart tags are set in Tools / Options / Interface : the 4 check box
at the top. You are interested in the following:
Edits to work, units or duration.
NB : If you want to change the Duration without affecting the Work, set the
task Type at fixed Work or Effort Driven: Advanced tab of the Task
Information dialog
