Changing Task Names

R

Randy

What happens if you change the name of a task after hours have been posted
against it? Will the renamed task have all of the same information as the
old task: actuals posted, remaining work, etc... and how will it look on the
resources timesheet? What is the best way of handling this? This is on our
2002 environment.

Thanks!

Randy:

To get the new task name to appear on the timesheets, you must use
Collaborate > Republish on the selected tasks to push the new name to the
timesheet and Project Web Access views.

Randy,
If in Project Pro you just rename a task, the task retains the same internal
task ID and the relationship between Pro and PWA is retained. All of the
info is still there on the task and they can by sync-d. After
(re-)publishing the task to the server, the new name will show up on server
views with the consistent historical values.
Good luck,
