Changing the default version of office back to office 2003

hey, i was wondering if anyone knows how to change the default version
of office. I've installed 2007, but i want my office files, unless they

are .docx or .pptx etc. to open up still in office 2003. I have tried
'open with...' but to no avail, it still opens in office 2007, any
ideas?

I presume you are running both versions of Office on your computer? I do not
know how to make one default, but I have realized how important it is to save
files as 97-2003 so that they will open up on other machines that are not
running 2007 Beta. Also when 2007 Beta expires, unless we buy Office 2007, we
will not be able to open native files created in 2007 Beta unless we have
saved them as 97-2003 or have the converter.

Thanks anyway

Oh and, never thought of that, do we know when exactly the beta will
expire is there a date?

February 1st 2007 is the expiration date. But, as I say, it is important to
save files so they can be read on machines not running Office 2007 beta....I
emailed a document created in Office 2007 Beta to a machine running 2003 and
it could not be opened unless I saved it as 97-2003....easy to do but it had
not occurred me that we would have to do that.

Yes, I have the converter but you cannot email documents to other machines
and tell the owner that if they cannot read the file, they should download
the converter....some might do it...most would just ignore the file!

This sounds similiar to what I've been testing today. In a mixed environment
what options are there? Here's the short term solution that I've come
to.....I've created a MSP (custom installation file) to use for the install
that will set the default "save as" type to *.doc and not *.docx.
