Changing Workgroup projects to Enterprise

G

Geoff Hilyard

I have some projects listed as Workgroup and I cannot open
them in Project 2k2 Pro. I am assuming that I need to
convert the Workgroup projects to Enterprise. I can open
only the enterprise projects using Project 2k2 pro. I did
at one point have Project 2k2 standard installed, which is
why (I assume) some are listed as workgroup. How can I
make the workgroup projects enterprise (more specifically,
how can I open them up using 2k2 pro??)?? Do I have to
install 2k2 standard, same them to disk, and upload them
in 2k2 Pro??

Thanks

Geoff Hilyard

Have you tried importing these workgroup projects into your Project Server
Database? To do so, click Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to
Enterprise, and then carefully complete each of the steps in the Import
Project Wizard. Pay special attention to the page where you match local
resources with enterprise resources. Let me know if this helps.

Geoff:

If you've uninstalled Project Standard, you can still use Project Pro to
connect to Project Server as if it were Project Standard. The question is
are these plans actually saved in the database? In a workgroup configuration
you had the option to store plans in shares as well as the database. So we'd
need to know the answer before giving you the exact steps to take.
