characters not typing in Microsoft Office

Help. I seem to be having font issues. Characters are not typing
correctly in Word.

What version of Office/Word? Is it fully updated?
What version of Mac OS X? Fully updated?
What type of Mac?
Which font(s)?
Is Word the only program where this occurs?
What does "...not typing correctly..." mean *exactly*?
Have you taken any steps to correct the problem? If so, what & what was the
result?

I'm on Mac OSX , Microsoft Office 2004. Not sure if these are updated.
iMac.

Noticed the problem simply trying to type an apostrophe and a symbol
appears. I've done nothing so far to try to correct.

Your help appreciated.

I just updated Office and the apostrophe seems to work now. Thanks
again.

Glad to know it's fixed, but in the future please include as much detail as
you can... There are [almost] always variables involved & it's necessary to
know what you're dealing with :)
