Chart apearing small for one user only

Mike Everette

I have a situation where person one sends person two a
excel 2003 document with a chart and person two can see
the chart but it is rely small. Person one can send the
file to other people and it shows up fine. Person two can
send the same file to other people and it shows up fine.
What is wrong with person two's setup?

The zoom percentage on both computers for both people are
always the same value. Person two can increase his and it
seems as if it distorts the chart. When he sends that
file to someone else it looks ok (not distorted) but very
big.

Please help. Thanks.

Does the chart appear on the worksheet (i.e. on the same
sheet as the data) or is it on a separate chart sheet?

If it is on the worksheet - no idea.

If it is on a separate sheet, you can start by checking
person 2's Page Setup settings. [FILE/PAGE SETUP/CHART] It
may be that person 2's chart settings are 'scale to page'
or 'full page' and their default printer page is very
small for that particular workbook.

If you select a different setting here, you might find
that the chart remains static for everyone.

It was his default page setup. for some reason his was set
to 5x6 paper. alot of his files open with that paper size
set that way even though his default printer paper is set
to 8 1/2 x ll. I just told him to start checking it on
every file he opens and changing it and then save it.
thanks for the help.
oh and on a unrelated topic. is there a way to view ms
news groups with a newsgroup program instead of this web
interface?

Point your newsreader to:

nntp:\\news.mincrosoft.com

Your computer probably uses port 119 for nntp.

There are a lot of groups so it might take a few mins to show you
everything.

Alan.

I ckecked and I am fairly sure I am connecting to news.microsoft.com

You could be blocked at work I guess.

Use msnews, not news.

Hi Jon,

Just wondering, is that because it works better, or am I just
misreading my setup?

In OE (to be consistent with the OP -
under accounts,
news, I select my microsoft news 'account', and open up the
properties.

In the 'server' tab, server name is "news.microsoft.com" (without the
quotes).

What difference would it make if I changed to msnews.microsoft.com?

Thanks,

Alan.

Alan -

For years I've always connected to msnews.microsoft.com. Apparently they've also
linked news.microsoft.com to their servers. It probably makes no difference.
