chart average monthly completion time

I have a query that lists individual completion times in
months. How do I turn this data into a chart of average
completion time per month?

Select MonthField, Average(CompletionTime) from tblTimes Group By
MonthField.

The Group By clause with the Average Aggregation will get the data you need.
The charting's a snap from there.
