Chart columns

How do I set excel to automatically appear with patterns in the colums of
charts? I have a black and white laser printer and patterns would appear
better than color and I don't want to change them every time.

If you can get patterns you like (I am never pleased with the patterns, but
YMMV), make a custom chart type:
