Chart Dates Difficult to Set

How do you set the parameters of a chart so that the quarters
correspond exactly to the major unit and the months correspond to the
minor unit?

I have an XY (scatter) chart - I need this type of chart, to use the
trendline feature during the year. The X axis data Number type is set
to Oct-08 format. I've set the Scale Minimum to Oct-2007 and the
Maximum to Jan-2009, because I want to see my sales for the past year,
and make projections for the year end.

I want to mark on the axis the quarters and the months; I set Major
unit at 91.5, and Minor unit is set to 30.5. This is an approximation,
which gives me incorrect labeling for some months. I'm able to correct
somewhat the months displayed on the X axis, by adding a couple of
days to my minimum. However this is not correct, just an expedient
that fixes the labels, but which would show a sale on Nov-1-2007, as
taking place at the end of October.

Is it possible at all to have exactly quarters and months for the X
axis, that take into account the real calendar? Is there also a way of
displaying a month date in the middle of the interval it refers to,
rather than at the beginning?
