I have created an x/y scatter plot, clicked on the x axis and dleted it. How can I reinstate it short of creating a new plot? There seems to be no way of selecting the x axis anymore.

Yes, when I create an XY (Scatter) chart and delete the horizontal axis, I
have the same problem (Mac Excel 2008, 12.1.4).

I expected to be able to restore the axis using the Formatting Palette |
Chart Options | Axes Show, but when I click on either of the icons (Primary
Vertical Axis or Primary Horizontal Axis) only the vertical axis is
affected.

Thank you for reporting this issue. We are currently investigating it.
Some workarounds are to undo deleting the horizontal axis by type Cmd+Z (or
clicking the Undo icon in the Standard Toolbar) or to create a new XY
(Scatter) chart. Sorry for any inconvenience.
