Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel To add titles to charts I have gone to the Formatting Palette-but have no Chart Options. The only pull down I have is for Number. I have ensured that I have selected the chart prior to attempting this. Help!

First, confirm that Office is fully updated - 12.2.3 is current. Also, if
you've been running Excel or your Mac 24/7 re-launch the program and/or
restart your Mac. If that doesn't clear things up...

At the right end of the Formatting Palette's title bar click the curved
arrow button to "flip" the toolbox over. Make sure the items pertaining to
"Chart" in the Show Panels: list are checked.

Thanks for such a quick response! Office current, I re-launched the program and restarted my MAC AND checked the Formatting Palette, which gives me no options for chart. Boo! Any further words of wisdom?

Since you didn't specifically say so I have to ask :) Did you click the
bent arrow at the right end of the Formatting Palette's title bar? The
Toolbox will turn around to display the Toolbox Settings when you do. Make
sure that Formatting Palette is selected in the list of Palettes below the
Close Effects section. The 3 Chart features should be among the check boxes
in the Show Panels list... Make sure all 3 are checked.

Surprisingly enough I did check the Toolbox Settings and this is where I ran into the problem. It doesn't give an option for Chart Features. It only allows me to check the following: Font, Number, ledger Sheet, Alignment, Border, Page Setup. Sooo frustrating. Thanks so much for all your suggestions!

Hi Robin;

I'm not sure what to suggest ‹ I've never seen this situation before. When I
flip the palette over there are 18 items in the list. Why your list is so
short I honestly do not know. My gut reaction is that a re-installation of
Excel is going to be in order, but before going to that extent let me do a
little research. I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.

To help me out for reference & comparison, please give me a *complete* list
of what appears in the Show Panels list for both Word & Excel.

Bob:

Show Panel list for Word: Note Levels, Font, Styles, Alignment and Spacing, Bullets and Numbering, Borders and Shading

Show Panel list for Excel: Font, Number, Ledger Sheet, Alignment & Spacing, Borders, Page Set Up

Thanks.

Hello again;

Can you provide some additional diagnostic info? See if the flip side of the
Toolbox provides the additional Panels when you do each of the following;

Launch Excel while holding the Shift key.

Log out, then log in while holding the Shift key.

Finally, log in using a different user account.

Let me know what the results of each test are.

Thanks for all of your help. For whatever reason, I still am unable to access Chart Tools. I give up.

Hi Robin and Bob,

Thanks for the posts. I'm having the same issue here with limited Panels to choose from in the Toolbox settings. Any luck diagnosing the problem or is a reinstall the recommended fix?
