charting two sets of data at the same time

I have a set of data which is comprised of time vs height (x,y) 1000 pts
I have a subset of that data 20 pts where I would like to put in markers.
I can't seem to get the scale of one with respect to the other correct.

What I'm looking for in the end is a graph that looks like a bell curve with
20 or so
places on it marked in some way.
