Check boxes with a tick not X!!!

I want to use a checkbox, but instead of an X in the box

I want a tick to appear in the box when selected. Can
anybody help me ??

worked something out but not happy about it....

changed it using the control tool bar and replaced my checkboxes with
tick boxes... don't know why they are different to start with.

still like to know about the other way if people know
