"Check for Updates that I need to install" - gives wrong answers?

I have Office Pro 2003 instatlled. When I go to the Office Update site to
see what updates I should download, it suggests that I download and install
updates to previous versions in addition to the Office 2003 updates?

This is confusing and from my perspective can't possibly be correct. Surely
all of these updates are incorporated in the Office Pro 2003 products with
Service Packs?

Here's a list:
Update for Access 2002 (KB904018)
Security Update for Outlook 2002 (KB892841) (English version)
0 KB / Already Downloaded
Security Update for Word 2002 (KB895589)
Security Update for Office XP (KB873352)

At some point, before upgrade to Office 2003, I did have the products that
these updates refer to on the computer in question.

It gives the impression that the software cannot be trusted to give correct
answers to the question "Check for Updates that I need to install"?

I'd like to suggest that you fix the problem.

Thanks,
BB

What do you show under Control Panel->Add/Remove programs for prior Office
verisons? Any prior Works versions?

Doing the same here........the Office Update site has a history of being
flawed in this way.......guess this is just another example of their lack of
quality in their work!

Hi Ann,

In Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel check to see if you have any 2000 series Office apps listed as well.
