Check names feature problems

Hi everyone,
The problem here is with Outlook in Office XP SP2 running on a WinXP Pro
machine. While typing an e-mail and hoping that the auto check names
feature is going to work properly, it doesn't. Names get a red line under
them and when I try to resolve, it shows a fax entry for the recipient as
well as their e-mail entry. I want for this function to only go after the
e-mail entry and not the fax. Can someone please tell me where to find
this?
I hope I provided enough information. Any help would be greatly
appreciated as this is really annoying.
