Check Names - Microsoft outlook found more than one "Name" verses Choose Contact dialoge boxes

I always use the "Find a Contact" command on the tool bar this always gave me a list of possible contacts from all my enabled contact folders in the "Choose Contact" dialogue box.

Now all I get the "Check Names" dialogue box which only list names on the "Show this Address List First" contact folder which means I have to go to "Show More Names" and choose another address book. The strange thing is that using Ctrl K while associating a contact in a form brings up the "Choose Contact" dialogue box with all the enabled address books.

I cant figure out why it started doing this and worst still I can't find out how to change it back. Can any one explain this and help me as it's an annoyance and a frustration having to manually trawl through each address books one at a time to find the contact that I want.

I am using Outlook 2002

Sounds like the connection between the Outlook Address Book Service and your
Contacts became corrupted. Examine the settings.

Thanks very much for your help, problem solved.

I ended up removing all the address books, re-enabling them, and then resorting the list to how I wanted it - back came the "Choose Contact" dialogue box! I now do remember moving contact folders between PST before the problem arose, so as your article indicated Outlook got a bit confused with this and lost track.

Thanks again,

James
