check size of emails before receiving

I'd like to be able to view the emails I'm about to receive and their size,
then to be able to delete very large ones if not needed, before they
download, rather than having to wait until the email is downloaded and
discover an attachment that has used up my monthly usage and wasn't necessary
Is this possible in Outlook?

Yes. Use remote mail. i.e. only download headers then process them according
to your needs.
