Checkboxes don't appear when converting Reports to another format, e.g. Word, Excel, HTML, ...

When attempting to convert reports to something I can send to a general audience, I've discovered that checkboxes don't appear in the converted file. Is this a bug? Is there a work-around?

Check boxes are graphical. Replace them with a text box bound to the yes/not
field, and set its Format property to Yes/No or similar.
